The first Teachers and Parents meeting of Social Action For Woman (SAW) School for 2015-2016 academic year took place at the school on May 26, 2015, in the morning, and more than 80 migrant teachers and U Naing Naing Htun from Burmese Migrant Teachers’ Association (BMTA) had attended.
With regard to the meeting, SAW’s education coordinator Ko Min Min said, “Currently, we can only open for the students from kindergarten to 6th grade, and the school will open on June 2, 2015. That’s why we call for the Teachers and Parents meeting so that we can form the Teachers and Parents Association in time.”
The parents requested for the transportation of the children coming to school and promised to participate in the school’s fund raising activities; they also discussed about the future of the school in depth.
A parent named U Win Zaw Oo said, “We, the parents, will work together with the teachers for our children to continue their education. We’ll meet the challenges of the school in a collective manner.”
SAW’s migrant school had 363 students studying in kindergarten to 8th grade for the 2014-2015 academic year.
