Income Generation Program

The income generation program was started as vocational work for displaced women and children who arrived to the Safe Houses. It also works to improve their mental stability and health condition by working. The products of the income generation program are sold in the local and international communities and the income is used for the needs of the shelters.

Objectives

- To increase the mental health of women who gain shelter at SAW by learning a skill and working while they are living

- To create jobs for women in need

- To raise funds for the organization

Activities

- Providing skill trainings to Burmese migrant women such as sewing, knitting, weaving, and tatting

- Creating jobs for women in the Women's Crisis Center

- Finding jobs in factories for migrant women

- Selling purses, bags and scarves

Target

- Women who seek shelter at SAW and those who live elsewhere but have difficulty finding jobs
